Experience

Erik’s practice involves counseling clients on intellectual property matters, and serving as Senior ESI Counsel at Botkin Chiarello Calaf.

Before his second career as an attorney, Erik worked as a software developer at the University of Texas where he designed and implemented digital library software. After graduating from law school, Erik joined a patent litigation boutique where he gained substantial experience in litigating patent infringement matters. In his current practice, he counsels clients regarding trademarks, copyrights, software development, and licensing.

In his role as the Senior ESI Counsel at Botkin Chiarello Calaf, Erik oversees all electronic discovery efforts in the firm's litigation matters, including identifying and working with e-discovery vendors and experts in complex commercial disputes and investigations. From collection, extraction, review, and production, Erik manages the full range of the e-discovery process while utilizing his prior expertise designing digital archives and managing metadata systems for the University of Texas Libraries.
