BCC Team Secures Trademark for Austin Restaurant and its Award-Winning Salsa

After placing 2nd at the 2024 Austin Chronicle Hot Sauce Festival in the restaurant red sauce category for “Salsa X,” Eldorado Cafe owners Joel and Joanna Fried knew they wanted to protect the name of their award-winning salsa.
A chance meeting with BCC Senior Counsel Erik Grostic at a performance by longtime Austin band Gomez led to the filing of trademark registration applications with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, not only for “Salsa X” but for “Eldorado Cafe” as well.
Less than a year later, both trademarks have been successfully registered with the USPTO.
“One of the best investments any small business owner can make is to protect the business’s trademarks by registering them with the USPTO,” Grostic said. “Relying on experienced trademark counsel is a great way to do that. We were thrilled to work with Joel and Joanna and look forward to enjoying Salsa X at Eldorado Cafe for many years to come.”
